Indiana is missing clear opportunities to use revenue for the greater good of every Hoosier. We should legalize marijuana in Indiana, not just because of the clear health benefits it can have for some Hoosiers, but also because minority communities are unfairly affected by enforcement of our current law. We can use those tax dollars to then directly invest in minority communities, in rural areas where opioid addiction is still a critical health issue, and in supporting young parents and their healthcare needs to decrease the rate of infant mortality in our state. We can also have a direct affect on health outcomes and costs by increasing the smoking and vaping age to 21.
